We are very pleased to announce our three keynote speakers: Prof. Dr. Sheila Jasanoff, Prof. Dr. Benjamin Sovacool and Prof. Dr. Andreas Knie.
  1. Prof. Dr. Sheila Jasanoff

    Sheila Jasanoff is Pforzheimer Professor of Science and Technology Studies (STS) at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. She is also affiliated with the Department of the History of Science, member of the Board of Tutors in Environmental Science and Public Policy, and visiting professor at Harvard Law School. Before joining Harvard, she was Professor of Science Policy and Law and founding chair of the Department of Science and Technology Studies at Cornell University. Jasanoff’s longstanding research interests center on the interactions of law, science, and politics in democratic societies. She is particularly concerned with the construction of public reason in various cultural contexts, and with the role of science and technology in globalization. Specific areas of work include science and the courts; environmental regulation and risk management; comparative public policy; social studies of science and technology; and science and technology policy.

  2. Prof. Dr. Benjamin Sofacool

    Benjamin K. Sovacool is Professor of Energy Policy at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of Sussex, UK. He works as a researcher and consultant on issues pertaining to energy policy, energy security, climate change mitigation, and climate change adaptation. Sovacool is also founder and editor-in-chief of the journal Energy Research and Social Science, a lead author of the IPCC's Sixth Assessment Report, due to be published in 2022, and an advisor on energy to the European Commission’s Directorate General for Research and Innovation.

  3. Prof. Dr. Andreas Knie (keynote cancelled due to illness!)

    Andreas Knie is Professor of Sociology at the Technical University Berlin and long-standing member of the WZB Social Science Center, where he is Head of the Research Group "Digital Mobility and Social Differentiation" (together with Weert Canzler). Knie studied Political Science in Marburg and Berlin, obstained his doctorate at the Free University Berlin in 1990 and received his habilitation (1994) at the Technical University Berlin. His fields of expertise comprise transport research, technology policy, innovation research and science policy. Knie is affiliated with the WZB since 1988, where he has been a research fellow and Head of the Research Group "Science Policy Studies". As a strong advocate of briding the gap between science and societal actors, he has also been the Management Director of the Innovation Centre for Mobility and Change (InnoZ) from 2006 until 2018 and is Chief Scientific Officer of the Choice GmbH since 2018.

  4. Dr. rer. nat. Kathrin Goldammer

    Kathrin Goldammer is an expert in energy technology and management. She has been Managing Director of Reiner Lemoine Institute since February 2016 and is responsible for scientific and financial management. Goldammer has many years of experience in the energy sector, energy policy, and policy advice: She has been responsible for the electricity generation portfolio in Germany at a Swiss utility company and later headed projects in asset management and portfolio optimization for municipal utilities and private companies. At the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies in Potsdam, she established the “Transdisciplinary Panel on Energy Change” (TPEC). Before becoming Managing Director at RLI, she was in charge of the Energiewende Research Forum – the multi-stakeholder dialogue platform of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research – at the German Academy of Science and Engineering acatech. Following research stays in Switzerland, the United States, and Japan, Goldammer received her PhD in Physics from Humboldt Universität zu Berlin in 2007. She holds a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from Technische Universität Berlin.
