Project start: Carbon Pricing after Paris (CarPri)

29. Januar 2019

In the context of this project financed by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of its program “Climate Economics”, the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW) coordinates together with the Univesrity of Oldenburg a modelling study in the context of the internationally renowned Energy Modeling Forum (EMF).

The modelling study focuses on scenarios to reach the targets of the Paris climate agreement, the submitted so-called Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), and the role of carbon pricing.

Potentially about a dozen of modelling teams from all over the world will participate with their Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) or other climate-economy models. The coordinator IfW and the University Oldenburg will in this context undertake specific model analyses focusing on the linkage of emissions trading systems (IfW) and instrument choice to reach the INDCs (University Oldenburg), respectively.
